Reorganization of Registrar's Office
Shortly after Fr. Monan became President he organized an University Planning Committee (Priorities Committee)academic planning committee to assist him in setting priorities and communicating directions to the entire community. Members of the planning committee were encouraged to seek ideas and comments from the community. It was during this process of community involvement that the talents of Frank Campanella came to light and gained the attention of Fr. Monan.
One of the committeemen was Dick Maffei from the School of management. Dick prevailed on me to offer a plan for the improvement of undergraduate registration at BC. Bernie accepted the offer and wrote a proposal for the establishment of a central Registrar’s Office, the elimination of individual school Registrars and the consolidation of student information into a single database and system. The proposal was accepted as one of the major findings of the Priorities Report and the reorganization was set in motion. Fr. James Woods was appointed as the University Registrar and assigned the task of executing the recommendations in the report.
