Exploring Machu Picchu, Peru and
Galapagos Islands, Ecuador - 2014 In September 2014 Pat and I joined a tour 16 other travelers on a two week vacation in South America. The trip was an exhilarating experience! The itinerary was nonstop, but every day was a new adventure with exposure to new people, cultures, and knowledge. We learned so much about the history of the Incas, the geography of the countries, and the flora and fauna of “Darwin’s” Galapagos Islands. |
Our 14-day trip started at sea-level in Lima, Peru, and then we flew to Cuzco at 12,000 feet altitude. We adjusted to height for 3 days in the Sacred Valley before we traveled to magical Inca village of Machu Picchu.
After returning to Cuzco for 2 days, we departed for Quito, Ecuador and then on to the Galapagos Island for four days of cruising in a 130 foot yacht and exploring the islands, especially the animal and sea life. Our last stop was back in Quito for 2 days of sightseeing, including straddling the equator. |
